Good Afternoon Y”all,
It’s been (probably) months since I updated this space. I have a thousand valid reasons and several thousand excuses as to why I haven’t updated in so long; but none of them really matter. Blogging has always been challenging for me to be consistent with. I get these big ideas for posts that overwhelm me and I procrastinate them, but also don’t write anything else in leiu of the BigPost I believe I should be writing.
This isn’t a BigPost it’s a small little update with news about where I have been updating more often as well as some new products I have created and am working on.
Firstly I created a facebook group. It’s called Julia Star Art and I have been consistently posting my art there, often multiple times a day. That’s the best place to get the most curent news and updates about my art. Following my personal page there will also give you other updates about my life. Recently I attended Electric Forest Music Festival and while I was gone scheduled a whole bunch of throwback art for my group members while I was away. Now that I am back there will be a lot more art there. I have also grown the group to 171 members already which feels really cool.
Another super cool thing I have done recently is I published my first coloring book! It’s called Manic Mandalas and it’s both a traditional coloring book as well as a diy space for you to try to make your own mandalas over some full page color designs. It’s a novel concept and the jury is still out whether it’s a sucessful one but I did sell 9 copies after launching it and that’s about 6 more than I expected to sell. If you’re curious you can find it on Amazon for $16.99.
I also made some stickers in honor of Griz returning to performing and have those listed on Redbubble. Still working toward the minimum payout threshold there though. Selling art online is tough. You can see all of my redbubble products here.
Most of what I have been doing is psychedelic nonsense art. There’s a blog post about the technique and tools I use to create this type of art, and here’s a little gallery of some of my better designs over the last few months.

In my personal life, I have been going through a lot of transitions, including discontinuing Effexor in favor of Abilify as my primary anti-depressant. My living situation will be shifting by the end of summer as well as some adjustments to my personal relationships. I have also been playing a lot of Minecraft with my 12 year-old son and playing Stardew Valley on my own. Working as much as I can as well, including working Electric Forest for the 3rd year in a row.
In my next blog post I might talk about the workshop I am building. But it might be three months from now apologizing for not updating this blog. Who knows. Stay tuned and subscribe for free with your email to never miss an update. I rarely put content behind a paywall here. Any paid subs are just to support my writing and art journey.
Thanks for reading and I will see you all again soon!
Love,
Jules
