Good Evening loves,
Apparently it has been 5 days since I wrote a substack post. There are reasons for that that I'm going to briefly list for you:
I've been running most of my work on the iPad but typing on the iPad is the worst™ (I'm attempting to write this post on my Moto phone through chrome to see if it's better than pulling out the 7 year-old laptop. So far so good)
As per my work in progress post there have been some changes to my psych med regimen and as expected those changes haven't all been great. Vraylar has had some unfortunate side effects and I discontinued it after 5 days and put a message into my NP but haven't heard back yet. Both the mental and physical side effects were enough to make me simply stop taking it. Now I'm coming off 5 days of that and 3 weeks of Abilify and whatever flavor of mania I experienced in February. If you're not familiar with bipolar after mania often comes depression and I am fighting tooth and nail to keep that from getting hooks in me this week. But that hasn't made me inspired to write either.
I've started a few post ideas for some big beefy posts with a lot of content but building the copy and content for those posts is a bit tedious and time-consuming which is sometimes the nature of the content creation beast but I was holding out for those posts rather than updating y'all with random art and nonsense while working on them. I'm still learning here too.
Honestly those are the reasons. There's further nuance but that's enough to fill in the question marks for now. I'm also still building an audience here and I know that there are maybe 4 people who notice when I post (or don't) and not having regular readers making me feel accountable to this space makes it more difficult to feel motivated to create regular content. It's a paradox of course because the only way to get readers is to create regular content…. Sigh.
So here's a short low-effort apology letter and at the bottom I'll throw in a couple galleries of works I've made this week. Because even though I'm not writing I'm still stubbornly making art because I DO NOT want to lose that spark and momentum. And so far I haven't although it's not quite as joyful and exciting as it was when I was more manic in February.
So dear readers, thank you for coming back to see what I've been up to.
In the next few posts I plan to write about my creative brand as a whole as well as make a second large post about merch and prints and stuff. So keep your eyes out for those posts.
Lots of love and a reminder to be kind to yourself today.
Love, Jules
