This is The Honeycomb Brain of Julia Star.
This is going to be my catch-all get the ball rolling blog home for all of the long-form writing I do. I may use it to discover a more focused voice to launch a more specialized blog with or this blog may transition to a more specific format down the road. I’m going to try not to limit it too much.
About Me: My name is Julia or Jules I am almost 35 and any pronouns are fine for me.
I am primarily gender fluid, secondarily non binary and tertiarily Transgender. I may write a dedicated post about what that means to me and why I phrase my gender identity that way at some point. I am also pansexual and polyamorous. My spiritual beliefs tend to be esoteric and eclectic and influenced from a lot of earth-based pagan spiritualities and other occult religious and spiritual frameworks. I also draw a lot from Buddhism and Hinduism. Politically I align most with socialist and anti-capitalist ideals but I don’t focus a lot of my writing on my spirituality or my political views so they will probably be the least likely things to show up here. I also am the non-custodial mother of a lovely 10-year-old boy.
I have diagnosed ADHD, Complex PTSD and Bipolar Disorder type 2. I don’t focus too much on the specific diagnoses but rather focus my personal treatment approach on symptom mitigation and recovery as well as coping with cyclical symptom emergence. A lot of my writing will be surrounding these topics from time to time. When I first began treatment for ADHD I really hyperfocused on the topic and have gathered a ton of insight, information and opinions on the subject.
About this Substack: As I said before there’s not going to be a hard and fast subject matter here. However I would like to note that my writing model is going to be extremely accessible here. I will not be locking any of my long-form writing behind the paywalls. Everything I write here will be free for all. Some things I may utilize paid subscriptions for could include spotify playlists, a day in the life image journals, and possibly a paid-subscriber-only chat. We’ll see.
Thanks for checking this place out! I hope to soon fill it with lots of honey and spice.
